About PSP of Brevard
LAND DEVELOPMENT :: COMMERCIAL BLDG. DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION :: REAL ESTATE HOLDINGS & INVESTMENTS
PSP of Brevard is a family owned business whose roots are deeply seated in commercial and multi-family real estate development. Guiseppe Merendino, a poor Italian immigrant, arrived at Ellis Island from Sicily in 1912. Guiseppe began earning a living by opening a small grocery store in New York City. But he always yearned for the American dream of land ownership. He scrimped and saved and in 1922 he made his first land purchase. He purchased the building where his business was located to begin the process of realizing his dreams. The building was at 226 Christie Street (picture above) in lower Manhattan. It had six floors with residential units and stores on the ground floor. A few years later he purchased another building at 230 Christie Street. He opened a butcher shop in that building shortly after he purchased it.
| Mission Statement: "The integrity of our word and the faith in the quality of our product and in our promise, have always meant more to us than mere transitory gain....We would rather lose money than confidence." |
Unfortunately, a few years later, the City of New York sought to condemn these buildings in order to build the Manhattan Bridge. Guiseppe met personally with the Mayor of New York at the time, James Walker to discuss the price of the buildings. Guiseppe had to relent and let go of the first properties he had purchased in this new land. However, in 1933, with his newfound wealth, he moved to the green spaces of Brooklyn to raise his children. There he was then able to realize his ultimate dream of creating buildings to house people and business’s in the growing area. He built many multifamily homes and a seventeen family apartment building with storefronts for businesses.
Guiseppe was a jovial and robust man who always remembered to take care of the less fortunate. During the depression, he put people to work and he fed and housed the poor. Unfortunately, his life was ended early by a terrible tragedy. But his dreams and aspirations of developing nice places for people to raise their families, by creating shopping centers for the local population, lived on in his children and continues to live on in his grandchildren.
PSP of Brevard is currently planning, developing and building retail centers, office condominiums, townhouses, professional centers and restaurants from Palm Bay to Titusville.
